PCB Membrane Switches Explained

To understand what PCB membrane switches are, we must first look at their basic materials. The first are produced through two large parts: PCB and membrane. A PCB is a flat board on which certain metal lines or traces are present. These are metal lines with which you form a connection between different parts of the switch. When you press down on the membrane, it touches these metal lines creating a path for electricity and allowing the switch to turn on. The membrane is a thin, flexible surface that can have electric fields throughout when pressure is placed on it. Which means, that when you press down the membrane simultaneously completes an electric circuit required for the machine to take action.
